About Metal Braces

Metal braces use stainless steel brackets bonded to the teeth and a wire that the orthodontist adjusts at regular visits to move teeth into position. They are used for crowding, gaps and bite problems in children, teens and adults. Elastic bands or ties hold the wire to the brackets, and retainers are worn after treatment to keep the teeth in place.
