About Gum Grafting

Gum grafting treats gum recession, where the gum has pulled back and exposed the root of a tooth. A small amount of tissue, taken from the roof of the mouth or from donor material, is placed over the exposed area to cover the root and protect it. Gum grafting is done by a dentist or periodontist, usually with a local anesthetic.
